Rasme: A Luxury Mithai Brand Shaped Through Design Architecture
At KRT Design Studio, luxury branding is approached as a structured synthesis of culture, craft, and strategic intent. Rasme stands as a defining example of how Signature System Architecture can translate tradition into a refined and contemporary brand expression.
The engagement began with a clear ambition, to position Rasme as a boutique mithai brand that reinterprets Indian heritage through a global luxury lens. Our process was grounded in deep research, drawing from Indian rituals, festive symbolism, and evolving premium consumer behaviour. This foundation informed a design language that communicates emotion, exclusivity, and quiet sophistication.
From identity to execution, every element was developed as part of a cohesive brand system. The Hindi typography of the Rasme mark became a central signature: balancing the elegance of traditional script with a contemporary sensibility. This articulation allowed the brand to exist with authenticity while resonating within a modern, premium market context.

The Hindi typography was a critical element in the creation of Rasme's brand identity, as it needed to reflect the fusion of traditional and contemporary aesthetics that the client envisioned.

Design Approach
The brand's name, Rasme, was written in Devanagari script to emphasise its Indian heritage and cultural significance. The challenge was to create a visual identity that felt rooted in tradition but also resonated with modern sensibilities. Here's how we approached the design.
Traditional Influence
We drew inspiration from ancient Indian calligraphy, which is known for its fluidity and elegance. This influence ensured that the typography had a sense of heritage, aligning with the artisanal, handcrafted nature of the mithai.The curves of the Devanagari characters were enhanced to echo the graceful, intricate patterns found in Indian art and architecture, particularly from the Rajput eras.
Custom Letterforms
The typography was customised to create a unique identity that wouldn't be mistaken for any standard Devanagari font. The strokes were slightly thicker, giving the logo a bold and confident appearance, which was important for establishing a strong brand presence in the competitive luxury market. A subtle fusion of angular and rounded elements was introduced to convey the juxtaposition of tradition (represented by the softer, rounded forms) and modernity (represented by the sharper, angular).

Modern Twist
To introduce a modern element, we streamlined the script, focusing on clean lines and balanced proportions. This minimalism ensured that the logo was not overly ornate, making it suitable for a luxury brand targeting contemporary consumers.We adjusted the kerning (spacing between letters) to create a balanced and visually pleasing word-mark that flowed smoothly, giving it a sleek, polished look.
Colour Integration
To amplify the luxurious feel, the Hindi typography was embellished with gold accents, symbolising opulence and grandeur, which are integral to Indian celebratory customs. The prism cut texture added depth and intricacy to the typography, making it a showpiece on the packaging. It provided a premium touch, elevating the overall unboxing experience and making each product feel like a special, carefully crafted luxury item.


Result
This identity positioned Rasme as a luxurious boutique couture mithai brand distinguished by its artisanal essence and a refined fusion of traditional Indian heritage with contemporary sophistication.
The expression of the brand extended through our Signature Unboxing Architecture, where packaging was conceived as a tactile and visual experience rather than a functional container. Sculpted embossing, metallic prism finishes, and gold-toned detailing were carefully orchestrated to create depth, light interaction, and a sense of rarity.
Each box was designed as a collectible object, reinforcing the brand’s positioning within the luxury gifting space. The result is a system where every touchpoint, from visual identity to physical interaction, operates in alignment, delivering a consistent and elevated experience.
